I applied through an employee referral. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at DoorDash (New York, NY) in June 2022
Interview
Had a 15 minute screener, then a LONG (12+ hours) take home test that examined how well I could use SQL turn a messy raw data set into actionable recommendations. I passed this stage, and they literally never asked about the incredible amount of free work I did, which was annoying. Once I passed that stage, I advanced to "Round 1" (hilarious name considering how much time had already been invested and that I'd advanced from two separate stages). In "Round 1" I did a 45 minute analytical thinking interview that was like an easier version of a consulting case interview. I didn't think the questions were bad or anything but they did not relate to the specific role I was interviewing for. They were clearly generic to the broader department. Then I had a 90 minute break and had a 30 minute behavioral interview with a different manager, which went very well. After this interview, I realized I had received an email 1 minute BEFORE the behavioral interview saying I had been eliminated from consideration for the role, and I also simultaneously received an email BY ERROR congratulating me for moving on, and asking me to set up a time for the next round. Aside from the horrible error on their part, which I had to clarify (they didn't realize the mistake), it was extremely unprofessional for them to decline my candidacy in that way. I had made it clear I was making time for this interview WHILE ON VACATION and they completely wasted my time with a second interview and/or did not respect me enough to hear if the second interviewer had a different opinion of my candidacy. It was also disrespectful to the second interviewer, who noted how busy she was, and yet DoorDash wasted her time by having her interview me and compile notes even though I was already declined. I have never before seen such unprofessionalism in an interview process and likely never will again. HR was also a disaster throughout the entire process, doing a poor job answering any questions about the process or timeline. Do NOT waste your time with DoorDash.

Question 1
Basic HR questions, tell me about yourself, why this job. Then some technical questions about the role.
Recruiter screen, 48hr case study, SQL questions, 45min behavioral + analytics exercise overview with manager back to back with a 30min case interview with senior manager. The interviews weren't too difficult and we had great conversations. I am waiting to hear if I am advancing to the next rounds. Took exactly five days to hear back after the case.
