Unorthodox'd - received "text" message from hiring manager expressing interest, based on job board online resume... I'm leary. She asked questions; I answered, then she flowed me up to an HR rep. HR asked about 15 questions & I answered her. It was a timed interview, via Skype... I'm even learner. I scored above average with an 87%. I have credentials & decades of experience. I gave them pros & cons. My biggest concern is/was, my age. Employers typically don't want gamble on anyone over 55. Such a waste... so, so many lessons learned! So, so much experience... and people skills above & beyond! No books can teach you that. Then there's the salary thing. Who wants to pay this type of employee >$100k/year when they can hire a new grad with fresh knowledge for half, or less? It takes them 3x longer to complete tasks (no internal contacts, unfamiliar with business practices, and NO experience). It ends up costing the company more, for the first few years. Well... I didn't run into this problem with ERGO. They almost forced be to sign on... very assertive. They made me a verbal offer & sent me a 26 page "Offer Letter", I investigated the HR person & ERGO - Being leary of phishing. I found no flaw after 8 hours online, going to local PD, & the Trade Commission & BBB. So I signed the offer letter and returned it in pdf. My biggest concern is there were so many references to termination in the offer/app letter that I had to ask them, "Does ERGO have a high employee turn-over rate". She said yes. I appreciated her honesty. But what if their expectations are unachievable? Contract violations? Lazy working from home? What? It concerns me. What if I can't meet their fast pace? I'll just give it my best shot. You don't stay in Aerospace for the same company for 30 years because you're a sh**bird!
