I applied through university. The process took 5 days. I interviewed at Eastern Advisors Capital Group (New York, NY) in May 2010
Interview
The process started out well enough, it seemed to be a lot of fit questions. They ask you to prepare some assignments for the first interview, which is 1 on 1. After moving on, you have to prepare more complex assignments, such as building financial models, before advancing to the final round where you meet with a number of members of the firm. The process is fairly laid back, and it is as difficult or intense as you want to make it. The projects require a good deal of effort, though.
