      Executive Assistant Interview

      20 Oct 2023
      Anonymous interview candidate
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Eat Well Global in Sept 2023

      Interview

I received an email saying they were interested and asked me to answer some questions. After that, I was asked for a video interview. Before advancing to the next interview, they asked me to do two assessment tests. During the 2nd interview they told me if I was selected, there would be a meeting with one of the leaders. While the steps are fairly standard, I feel like the entirety of the process was very unreasonable. I spent a lot of time and effort to research the company from the first email with questions. I obviously answered them decently which made it worth it because I advanced to an interview. One of the people in the 1st interview seemed very disinterested and the other was very friendly and warm. I received word that they wanted a 2nd interview but they wanted 2 assessments due one day before the 2nd interview. I spent hours on these assessments because the parameters were very vague and since I do these things normally for my current job, I wasn't sure exactly what they wanted included so I erred on the side of providing a lot of information. One was a travel itinerary for a CEO spanning 4-5 countries that needed accommodations, restaurants, flights, and meetings. The other was editing a social media post. I think the time required for this amount of work was unreasonable. However, I was interested in the position so I did it. The second interview was not great. It was not conversational and felt more like an interrogation. One of the interviewers (a different person than the first interview) also seemed checked out and was just going through the motions. I also noticed that all of the questions in both interviews centered around high pressure and burnout. Even the assessment for the social media post was about burnout. The demeanor of the employees and the questions about pressure were big red flags for me. They did not want me to come back for a 3rd interview and we obviously were not the right fit for each other. I believe that they asked for way more than is reasonable for assessments and it made me wonder if that was an insight to the position itself.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

These were the questions from the first email screener: Describe your experience working in a small growing, or start-up company. Describe your experience providing executive admin support in a remote environment. Describe your experience supporting executives and leaders outside of the US company/in a Global company. Describe your experience planning and supporting international travel and booking. Tell us what you find most interesting and exciting about this role at Eat Well Global. I can't remember all of the other interview questions but there was the normal types like "Tell me about yourself". I believe some others were along the lines of "what would you choose between speed and accuracy?" "What do you need to be successful?"
