I applied through a recruiter. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Elwood Technologies (London, England) in June 2023
Interview
I got contacted on LinkedIn by a recruiter and was hesitant by the industry of Crypto. After my 1:1 with what would be the tech lead of one of the teams you could join, I went from hesitant to happy to join the company. The next stage was a take home and honestly, it was just one of those hackerrank style questions where you wouldn't necessarily ever work on a problem like this in your day to day, but it was better than most. I was in a bad position for a take home as my landlord had failed to pay his mortgage and so I was in a complicated living position and struggled for time. I ended up spending about 2 hours at 3am on a sleepless night, where I put little to no thought into the productionised quality of the task, and just mostly focused on getting the problem to work, which it did but I used nested loops and ifs, basically the worst BigO notation imaginable. But I didn't have the time, I prefer tasks on the call because I have already set aside some time in my day for that 1 hour slot etc. I was too busy for this challenge and as soon as I submitted it and reviewed it again 3 days later, I could see a million and one ways on how, getting it to work and it being good quality are two very different things, and so I failed.
