      Graduate Trainee Interview

      19 Sept 2019
      Anonymous interview candidate
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Emaar Properties

      Interview

Emaar had an on-campus interview at a local university which I signed up for. I was then given two phone interviews before being invited to their office for a final interview with the executives. I had to miss class and drive an hour to attend the interview. The final interview was quite disturbing and unusual as there were other candidates being interviewed simultaneously. I did not like this style of interview and it does not showcase a candidate’s abilities when having to listen to other candidates and then finally respond. The final question was “if you would take one candidate with you to work at Emaar who would it be” and that threw everybody off as the four competent executives know better. I never received any follow up call or email after that interview, although I heard of a couple of students were hired 2 days after. I am very disappointed Emaar left me hanging after dedicating substantial time and energy for them, and eventually did not even receive a rejection email. I would not work for Emaar after the interviews experiences.

      Graduate Trainee Interview

      18 June 2019
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Abu Dhabi, Abu Dhabi
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 5 weeks. I interviewed at Emaar Properties (Abu Dhabi, Abu Dhabi) in Apr 2019

      Interview

I applied for the position online after a current employee posted to one of my university's Facebook pages that Emaar was looking to hire. About a week after I sent in the application, I was called by a recruiter. After about 5-10 minutes of talking on the phone, she invited me to interview in person approximately 4 weeks later. She told me that either her or a colleague would reach out before the end of the week to properly schedule a time slot for the interview. After hearing nothing for a week, I tried to call the recruiter, and she never picked up. I attempted to get a hold of her periodically throughout the following three weeks (always during working hours) and never once did the recruiter pick up. A friend of mine faced a very similar situation with the exact same recruiter, as he was in a meeting at the time of her first and only call, and as such, could not answer at the time. She emailed him later with a schedule of exact hours that she would be free to talk to him; however, she still never answered her phone when called at these times. Seeing how this recruiter dipped well below basic standards of professionalism that I would expect from a college student, let alone an experienced worker, it has unfortunately soured my former reverence towards Emaar as a company. The demonstration of little to no respect respect towards multiple prospective candidates (and I'm sure plenty more than just my friend and I) was completely dehumanizing.
