I was sent a questionnaire asking about my qualifications for a potential position which was unknown and un-named. I don't remember applying for anything recently. They asked what position I would be interested in and for my portfolio link to filter candidates for the first round an actual interviews. It was really odd.
I interviewed at Emerald City Games (Vancouver, BC)
Interview
HR reached out on LinkedIn to set up an interview. Strangely, a week later the CEO of all people reached out to interview me (I was not applying for anything high-rankking). There were some random questions asked about my life and what I was like in high school, and if I had a passion for video games back then. It was a bit odd, as I am not anywhere near high school age. 4 weeks went by after telling me they would let me know by the end of the week. During this time, a recent ex employee reached out and told me that it had been a no, and that he didn't approve of their disrespectful practices around interviewing people. He apologized on behalf of himself and the company. Finally, at the end of the 4th week, the CEO responded saying it was no. Overall the experience left a very sour taste in my mouth!
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
He asked me if I was passionate about video games in high school, despite being far from high school age. He asked a lot of personal questions about my life, free time, etc. Not a lot of real nitty gritty technical related questions to determine my qualification from what I remember. Very strange.
I applied through a recruiter. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Emerald City Games
Interview
I was contacted by the EEG team on Linkedin and we booked an interview on Zoom. The interview was with about 4 other artists and the art director. They were very nice and the conversation was easy.
