I applied online. The process took 7 weeks. I interviewed at Emma in Aug 2021
Interview
I want to preface by saying the people we friendly, but I had to push the process every step of the way. Also, there's a weeklong take home project, but we never spoke about this after I finished it. I put a lot of effort into it, so it was irritating.
Setup phone screen on 07/08/21
Spoke with the hiring manager
Did a week long take home project
Panel interview (note: we did not talk about the take home project at all despite my trying to mention it a few times.
Rejection email on 08/26/21
Between each step, I would give it about a week, email, and then we'd setup another meeting.
Conclusion:
The people were great and I felt like we were on the same page.
The interview process left a lot to be desired. Ignoring the effort put into the project and the lack of communication were huge red flags.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Q: Weeklong project involving querying for a user's Github Gists and displaying the results.
Q: A lot of questions about why I like Typescript and how I would introduce it to a team. I do like Typescript a lot, but I never set myself up to be its advocate.
