The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Epic (Madison, WI) in July 2009
Interview
The interview was a 3 step process 1) Phone interview with Software Developer - he described the work at Epic, the Epic culture and asked me some behavioral questions, also asked questions on resume. 2) After the 1st round is successful, they would ask you to take a programming test at your local city. They would send in the questionaire and you just need to go to the suggested place and give the test. Its totally programming , I guess there were 5 questions (not that difficult), one must time himself and try to get the correct solution for them in approx 1.5 hrs. 3) If successful then there is an on-site interview and EPIC sponsors all the travel and itinerary, that's the best part. It consists of 1:1 with a manager where you describe a project of your choice, then meeting some of the experienced people to get to know more about Epic. Lastly there is IQ test and logic test questionaire.
Medium level leetcode and then a very basic system design question as a final round interview. Overall, smooth and simple process. Only one technical and it was the first one.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
How would you design a system to minimize wait time at a health care center?
[OA] OA was fair. Programming part are leetcode easy and easy-mediums, straightforward simulation, backtracking, dfs, strings, etc. No DP/graphs but ymmv.
[Final interview] (Case Study) I think the interviewer came up with their own prompt. It's mostly discussion-based, with a virtual white board. It's not too technical. I'm guessing its testing your communication/logical reasoning than system design skills. (Pair programming) 1 question, same format as the OA on the same platform, leetcode easy.
[Overall] Technical difficulty isn't bad. Interviewers who are current software devs seemed friendly. Had a good experience, yet got rejected.
First round is a thirty minute phone call with one of their developers. The other part of the first round is a three hour exam with IQ test style logic questions and coding questions.
