      Quality Manager Interview

      29 Apr 2022
      Anonymous employee
      Madison, WI
      Accepted offer
      Positive experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Epic (Madison, WI) in Mar 2022

      Interview

The whole process took about four weeks and I talked with 4/5 different HR reps so that was confusing. I applied for a different job and got an email from HR to do a half hour phone screening and then a few days later I received an email to do the 3 hours of assessments. That was honestly the worst part of whole process, somehow worse than any standardized test I have ever taken but maybe that's because I didn't understand going into it how long it would take. A week later I got an email letting me know I was no longer being considered for the position but they were interested in inviting me to a final interview for the Quality Manager position. I decided to give it a try since I had already invested so much time in the process. The final interview was three hours and consisted of an overview of the company and demo of the products, a one-on-one with a current employee in the role, a case study type interview with another employee, and a normal interview with an HR rep. Honestly the whole day felt very relaxed and wasn't stressful. I had good conversations with everyone. Afterwards, the HR rep let me know I would hear back within 2-3 weeks. They contacted my references and did a background check and I had an offer 1.5 weeks after the final interview. In my conversation with the final HR rep, they were very transparent about what the salary offer would look like and I was pleased with the end result. I really appreciated the constant contact I had with the company. Even though I was passed between several different people in HR, I always understood what the next step was and when I would hear back and then they always got back to me sooner than they had anticipated.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

The phone screening was pretty typical but at that point I was applying for a different role so the questions didn't pertain to the Quality Manager position but I will say, you really need no knowledge of the role for any part of the interview process. They care more about how you approach problems and teamwork. The final interview was completely over zoom. The case study portion was only 30 minutes and the employee gave me a project and then several voicemails and emails from different people on the team and asked me to prioritize them and talk about how I would address the issues raised. I had about five minutes to read over the case and prepare. We discussed the case and then they had me test a system so they could see how I worked through problems. Once I was speaking to the HR rep, it was much more of a standard interview. Most of the questions dealt with how I work on a team and how I lead. I was given some situations to react to and also asked to share past experiences in that regard. They also asked why I was interested in Epic/Madison, what my priorities for competing job offers would be, my compensation expectations, if I was planning to go to grad school in the future (they want you to stay for at least 3 years). Reading through the other interviews on Glassdoor prepared me well for every step of the process.

      Interview

You apply for PM or TS, and they may let you know you are also considered for QM role. The interview includes the presentation that you have to make. I think it is effectively the same as PM but you are judged for PM (IS) or QM.

3+ hour intense proctored assessment (coding, math, logic, and reasoning), followed by a 4-hour long interview "day" with some information sessions, a case interview, a 10-minute presentation, and then a screening with HR. Fun process.
