Question 1
What roles would you want to work in the graduate scheme?
I applied online. The process took 7 months. I interviewed at Essar Oil (UK) (Ellesmere Port, England) in Mar 2025
Interview
I had a phone screen interview (teams), and then made the decision to withdraw my application after receiving a superior offer.
The interviewer was very friendly, easy to talk to and it felt more like a conversation than an interview. She was knowledgeable about the refinery, current projects, the graduate scheme and ambitions for professional registration, which unfortunately I have found to be rare in graduate recruitment processes for engineering roles.
I came here to leave a positive review - and stress that my personal experience (although limited) was very positive. However, reading the reviews from current/former graduates was a surprise to me and makes me feel like I made the right decision in withdrawing. I am always cautious when reading negative reviews but such serious allegations from multiple reviewers cannot be ignored. The reviews were not the reason for my withdrawal - I hadn’t read them before withdrawing, but if I had then I would have seriously considered whether this was the role for me.
