      Optical Worker Interview

      30 Dec 2022
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Declined offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Essilor in Apr 2021

      Interview

It began with a recruiter and the process took a clownishly long. I understand the wires can get jumbled with a middle man but the amount of ball-dropping was alarming both for the recruiting company and Essilor. I interviewed over the phone with a recruiter, and had an in-person interview + tour at the local manufacturing location a week later with the shift supervisor. The supervisor was nice, but I could tell that he was desperate for employees ASAP and was asking me how soon I could start, which I was available immediately due to being between jobs a few months into the pandemic. I was also looking for other jobs at the time. I never heard back from them despite the urgency displayed during the in-person interview and took another job. The recruiter called me 4 months later, wondering if I was interested in the position and asked if Essilor had reached out to me because they really wanted to hire me. I told them that nope, I never heard back from them nor Essilor, and the fact that I somehow fell through their cracks or they've already burned through people and are now contacting me even though the supervisor wanted me to start the following Monday kind of tells me that I dodged a bullet. They asked me to reconsider and said they possibly bump up my starting pay rate, but they'd have to confirm with Essilor. I said nah, thanks though. So, the interview process was entirely too easy because they have a high turnover rate, can't attest to the job as I didn't take it.
