Overall a very eventful experience. Recommended by a recruiter, the role itself wasn't business development nor consulting (not the MBB type of consulting you would link to), it's more of a researcher role with some client-facing responsibilities, pretty much just pulling data out of their database to sell to the client, good for candidates with social science background, potentially. First round was the phone-screening, second round was to meet with head of the function with some role-plays, third round was a mock pitch. For me though, I was recommended another role after the third round and went for a fourth round. The role seemed like it was made up on the spot and the responsibilities weren't clear. I prepared the presentation accordingly but didn't even get to finish it, was told to end it after five minutes, the interviewer said they would get back to me, never heard back.
Pros: The products they offer seem genuinely interesting, has some solid features that I'm sure would stand out from its competitors. I also found the interviews and case studies great fun - they try to engage with you on an intellectual level and want to make sure you understand what they do and would be able to integrate your skill sets to the role. Smooth communication and timely feedback (until I was ghosted).
Cons: Don't think they managed to sell the role well to candidates - it doesn't even have a title, was just marked as Business Development - Consulting. Can be a bit confusing for candidates to relate, also, the HK office doesn't seem particularly organised. Wouldn't recommend anyone to go over the fuss if it's a post based there, unless you are trying to practice your interview skills - then a great opportunity to go on some fairly professional mock calls.
