I applied through an employee referral. The process took 2 days. I interviewed at Exponent (Phoenix, AZ) in July 2020
Interview
The interview is much like an interview for a post doc or a junior faculty position. There are one-on-one meetings with some of the key stakeholders, as well as a technical talk. The technical talk is identical to what one might prepare for an academic interview; candidates are judged based on their technical competence and presentation skills.

Question 1
Why would you want to leave academia to come work in industry?
There were two phone screens with consultants, followed by a day-long in person interview with multiple staff members. The day-long interview included a presentation to in-person staff plus others on Teams and also had a Q and A.
Laid back interview process. Phone interviews and then a final in person full day interview with a presentation involved. People asked good questions and provided great answers to questions - make sure you come with questions to ask.

Explain your work background and how you would solve x problem.
I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Exponent
Interview
One screening call where a consultant explains what Exponent does and determines if you are a good fit for the consulting life. A second screening call similar to the first. And an all day meeting with various one-on-one interviews (behavioral and possibly one scenario driven) with other consultants, including a presentation session in which you present on a topic of choice followed by a Q&A. You also talk to HR regarding more background questions.
