I applied online. I interviewed at Farmgirl Flowers in Jan 2021
Interview
casual phone screening went well and i was immediately invited to participate in a code project as a second interview. spent 2 weeks on the rails app and got ghosted for 2 months. Eventually I reached out to HR and got a rejection from the hiring manager.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
they explained a situation where their big shipping partners were slow to respond and they had a hard time making demands and getting responses (ironic.). They asked me what I would do in that situation to speed things along.
I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Farmgirl Flowers (San Francisco, CA) in Oct 2019
Interview
I responded to a LinkedIn ad and heard back pretty quickly. Over two phone screenings I learned that Farmgirl had been relying exclusively on outside software contractors of varying skill levels for many years but were now looking to bring more expertise in house as they had virtually no tools for the folks on the floor to use beyond pens and pieces of paper. After those calls I had two onsites where I met more of the stakeholders and saw the operation for myself.
I felt like everyone was extremely candid about the areas in which they were currently struggling and I saw lots of opportunities for improving the lives of the arrangers significantly as I've worked with fulfillment operations that deal with perishable goods for many years. I left the second onsite with the impression that a final round was going to be scheduled, but it never was.
After nearly a month of total silence I did a bit of digging and came to discover that more than one of the folks I had interviewed with had walked out, never to return, leaving me in the lurch. I don't know the entire story as to why, but I think it's safe to say that it's never a good sign when multiple managers flip a table and leave without warning. I'm now sad and confused but it's probably for the best that I was ghosted.
