      Designer Interview

      30 Jan 2024
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Declined offer
      Neutral experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Fearless

      Interview

First, a round with diversity recruitment, and then a round with a peer and portfolio manager. Within these rounds, background screenings for security and drugs were conducted (as the company works with federal contracts). At this point, there are usually 1-2 more interviews for designers, but I was very surprised to receive a call and a contingency offer immediately after round 2. The contingencies given are that Fearless has not received the project contract yet, so if they do not, they would not be hiring you. Other contingencies include passing the background and drug tests. The unknowns of which teams you would work with, what the actual project you would be working on is, where the contract project office is located (as it was requesting full time in project's office work), or even the actual possible start dates (could be 2-4 weeks from signing) are all up in the air. Because of the uncertainties, it was very difficult to make a decision to move forward. Fearless pressed very hard to sign without these details figured out. For me personally, there were too many uncertainties to sign. I also feel that the necessary steps to thoroughly vet a designer were not done. Fearless talks about nurturing talent and teams, but it's difficult to see within the actual interview process.
