      Development Manager Interview

      12 Apr 2015
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Chicago, IL
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at Feeding America (Chicago, IL) in Mar 2015

      Interview

Overall process felt harried, unorganized and unclear. Started off with an initial interview with the hiring manager, that ran long. Questions seemed all over the place, and did not follow an sort of flow. I felt like i listened more than spoke. However, I received very enthusiastic response, and proceeded onto a second interview, that lasted for two hours with four different people. I was told that they would be in touch soon to follow up with additional steps. And then nobody followed up. After checking in twice, I was finally sent a generic decline email about a month after my two hour interview. I am positive that they would have never contacted me if I had not sent the follow up email. I think that this may be a typical experience for a non profit with a smaller HR department, but the lack of communication seemed very unprofessional to me.

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at Feeding America (Chicago, IL) in Oct 2021

      Interview

I participated in three interviews with Feeding America in 2021. The interviews were fairly standard. The first was a phone call and the next two were panel interviews with department staff. The staff were friendly and easy going and it was pretty conversational. The biggest disappointment was never hearing back after the final interview (even with follow up). I would 100% expect one of the largest nonprofit organizations in the country to, at the absolute least, follow up with all candidates, especially those that took the time to complete multiple interviews with their company.

      Interview

The interview process was long but worth it. I was able to meet a lot of the staff members and hear from all of them to get a sense of the company feel.
