Have to know someone to get into the interview. 3 interviews and long wait times between. Told me I was overqualified for the position and that they didn't have any offer for me
Very straightforward. Looking for quality ion answers, not perfection, Be prepared to explain any less than applicable experience. Your best bet is to show hunger and grit. Phone interview to qualify then in person interviews with the manager at the branch.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Tell me a joke. (Wanted to see if I was quick thinking when caught off guard)
I applied online. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Ferguson (Chandler, AZ) in Feb 2023
Interview
After interviewing me for over an hour in person, the hiring manager said she had 2 openings and 5 candidates and hoped to make a decision within a week. Every single question was NEGATIVE, such as "Tell me about a time you totally f--ked up!" and "Tell me why I shouldn't hire you." Not one question about best strengths and accomplishments! At the end, she looked at me slyly saying "You should know we have a very TIGHT group here.. that likes to go out drinking after work" as if to say you have to be one of the 20-something barhopping kids here to fit in. And ultimately did not receive any communication at all. Neither the hiring manager nor the recruiter who sent me to her responded to my voicemail inquiries. I rated the interview as Easy, but it wasn't so much easy or difficult as it was inappropriately skewed to discourage an experienced applicant. I guess they need to maintain radio silence for plausible deniability! No integrity here!
