      Designer 1 Interview

      15 May 2024
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Declined offer
      Negative experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at Fieldstone A&E

      Interview

The interview process was super long and in my opinion, inefficient. I originally applied for a Designer 1 position and after the initial conversation with HR (1 of 5 steps) I ended up moving on to the next round which was a 4 hour CAD/Revit Assessment which required to me take PTO since you have to do it virtually during their working hours. During this, it started 30 minutes late because the person who was supposed to set it up for me was not at work that day and it was not communicated that I was taking the assessment so I ended up having to reach out again for direction on what to do. After the assessment it took about a week for an update where I was told I moved on to the next round and the job description for me changed from Designer 1 to Senior Revit Technician. This was a virtual interview with head of design and this call lasted about an hour as well where I repeated the same information that I did during my first conversation with HR and the survey that I had to take during the application process. After this there was a lengthy personality/IQ survey (took about an hour) and once again it took a couple days for a response. Finally there was a final interview where the description remained as a Senior Revit Technician and was another hour long conversation about company culture and once again, my experience. The offer letter came in a couple days later but the job description had changed to Senior CAD Technician. I reached out to HR to ask some questions about the pay (in the initial conversation I had stated a salary range I was looking for and not only did not come close to meeting it but the pay is also hourly not salary which would have been nice to know in the beginning) and HR had decided I was placed in the wrong team description and was looking for a Designer position and needed to talk to the head of the Revit Design Team (so the initial position I applied for). I followed up on setting up a call with him where they responded saying they did not have room for me on the team and they no longer had a spot for me on their team. So I had put in over 7 hours for the interview process and over a month of coordinating times through emails for them to change the position I originally wanted and then going on to tell me there was not a spot for my level of experience. The process was very repetitive and could have easily been completed in a shorter time. I understand this is a corporate job and is fully remote so they have to be diligent in who they bring on their team, but to be considered for a job this is a lot of hoops to jump through and at the end I felt taken advantage of for how much time and attention was given to them.

      Question 1

They ask you to rate on a scale of 1-10 your knowledge of Revit and AutoCad and continue to ask questions in this format.
