I applied through an employee referral. I interviewed at First Class Tutors
Interview
I was referred for an interview with Lori, the owner, by a current tutor. First off the phone interview was already unsettling. It was less of an interview and felt more like she was just grilling me. Right off the bat she was very passive aggressive and kept saying things like "I don't think you're qualified" and "I don't think this is going to work out". I thought it was odd and I had never heard an interviewer be so straight up with me and then she would say well let's have you for an in person interview tomorrow. She also made several inappropriate comments about my voice not fitting my age?. Just overall a weird and unprofessional experience. Anyways I showed up for this interview, which by the way she runs this operation from the community center of her apartment complex..., and was already put off by her unwillingness to help me find this location. Again, very passive aggressive about it. She asked me to demonstrate how I would model a real tutoring session but then told me stop when I tried to do it my way. I only got two questions into the interview when she told me to stop because she was "irritated" with me and started telling me how she has a short fuse. At this point I was extremely frustrated with her behavior and how unprofessional this whole thing seemed. I said thanks for your time but I don't wish to continue the interview process and I left. Afterwards she texted me telling me I was not fit to be a tutor and that I got the first problem wrong. The first problem was solving for x in 1/3 = x/24. The answer is x = 8 and I did model that answer so clearly she was lying to me or does not know basic math. Anyways, all in all I didn't care how much this position paid I'm glad I walked away so I would not have to deal with this sort of behavior from the owner.
I applied online. The process took 2 days. I interviewed at First Class Tutors (Irvine, CA) in Aug 2018
Interview
I was first interviewed over the phone and asked about my educational background and any previous tutoring experience that I had. I was then sent an application, which I brought to the in-person interview 2 days later. I was asked to demonstrate how I would teach middle school and high school math and chemistry problems, which took the majority of the time. Overall the entire interview lasted slightly over an hour.

Interview
After a brief over the phone introduction I met with the owner to do a mock tutoring session. Walking in I was extremely nervous, but the owner was supportive, encouraging, and understanding throughout the mock session. After the session I was offered the position and have enjoyed working for the company since.
