I applied in-person. The process took 6 months. I interviewed at First Student (Santa Rosa, CA) in Oct 2009
Interview
Hiring process consisted of one interview, followed by a training period that included both presentation of class material, behind the wheel training in both urban and rural road conditions. As well, the training included safety checks on the condition of the bus operating systems, such as the air brake system.

Question 1
What would you do if a student picked a fight and physically assaulted another student on the bus?
Super friendly and approachable, there's a lengthy mostly unpaid (IIRC) training process where they get you your B licence. Requires a clean record, passing police and background check, medical exam etc. there's also ongoing training modules of things to keep aware of and the driver improvement course eventually too. Overall it's not a bad company with great friendly management, prefect for part time regular work with summers off (unless you volunteer to do longer charter trips)

Interview
The interview process was fairly easy. They asked a few relevant questions related to the position. I was also offered a sign-on bonus as an incentive to accept the job offer and they have now reneged on the offer claiming it no longer exists.
