First off, it was genuinely a pleasure to meet the interviewers. They seem like genuinely nice people whom I would like to have worked with. "K" was very personable and welcoming, although "T" seemed quite stand-offish and not all that friendly. The job advert for this role was very wide, and included containers, kubernetes, infrastructure as code, CI/CD tools like CircleCI and Jenkins, cloud providers like AWS/GCP, and coding in Python. The interview process was very muddled. I was applying for a specific role, but the interviewers stated that "This interview is not actually for any specific role, we have a range of things". Despite this, they included a quick Python test (which is a specific test, despite them saying it was not a specific interview). They did not ask many questions, and in a way I had to lead the interview, which was strange too. So there was awkward silence which I felt I had to fill as they didn't ask questions. The internal hiring chap got back to me very fast, which was great and was very personable! Overall, very nice people, but strictly as an interview it was all over the place and muddled/confused. The job spec was (as above) very broad, but they focused on one particular area rather than assessing a broad skill base. The interviewers cited lack of a computer science degree as a problem - as I am an immigrant from a disadvantaged background who has not had the privilege or opportunity of attending a British university, I did feel this was unfair despite having built up considerable experience/skills as a software engineer. My "negative" rating is purely due to the interview process/structure itself and not the people!
