I was contacted by a recruiter at Flock Freight. She asked me to mark my availabilities on her calendar so she could schedule an initial phone call. I marked three 2-hour slots for the following week. She did not confirm which slot the call would happen. I was slightly disappointed, but then I figured as long as she would call me during the slots I marked, that would be fine since I had moved my schedule around (which was not easy since I was having a full-time job) to accommodate those. But no, she did not call. Not once. No emails either, complete radio silence. If that had been the end of my interaction with her, I wouldn't have spent my time writing this. A couple of days later, she reached out and apologized, saying she had caught COVID and had not been able to call me. She asked to reschedule the interview AFTER the time it was supposed to happen. At that point, although unhappy about having been blown off (technically 3 times since I had marked 3 slots, none of which she had shown up in) without any communication, I was desperate for a job and partly felt bad for her. So I told her I would be happy to take the interview. She did not reply or confirm. And you probably can guess, I was blown off for the FOURTH time. I wish this were the end, but it wasn't. One week later, she reached out AGAIN, apologized for missing the interview AGAIN, and asked to reschedule AGAIN. It's almost like I was trapped in a time loop. This time, I was VERY annoyed because this lady kept making me move my schedule around without the intention of showing up. But desperation for a job is really something scary that made me do the unthinkable: I replied politely, telling her I would be happy to have an interview after so many missed opportunities. Same old story: I waited and waited and waited on the promised date, but nobody ever called. A few days later, I followed up and asked her if the position was still open. Call me dumb all you want. Right now, thinking back, I have no idea why I had to stoop so low, either. To no one's surprise, my email went unresponded. So, TLDR: This recruiter lady blew me off FIVE times, and ghosted me in the end. I don't know if the problem is specific to that recruiter only or if the hiring pipeline of the whole company is broken. This left a very bad taste in my mouth and discouraged me from ever applying for a position at this company ever again.
