FIRST ROUND:
HR recruiter reached out to set up interview. We meet over zoom and had a great conversation. We had more of a conversation than the standard question and answer format which can intimidating. He was super nice, informative and engaging. A+++
SECOND ROUND:
I then meet with the gentleman who would be my supervisor. His approach was completely different than HR's. I almost felt that he had possibly made a decision about me before the interview started. There was not an attempt on his end to make a personal connection.
Our conversation was a total u-turn from the one I had with HR. I went from the HR guy telling me how great my work and him trying to see me on Flock etc. to the second round guy telling me he was concerned that I might not gel with a start-up.
Graphic design work is the same whether it is for a start-up or an established brand. The only difference in the two would be that the larger brand is more established and creative processes would be more defined. I'm disappointed to say that it sounded like Flock was not interested in building processes (project management) around this particular position. As a graphic designer with many years of experience I think this could be detrimental. I could be mistaken but that's what I took away from the experience.
Lastly, the interview was cut short because the gentleman told me he had to deal with a PR issue.
This made me feel like I was not worth his time.
So all and all, I was disappointed.
