      Head of ESG Interview

      8 Aug 2022
      Anonymous interview candidate
      London, England
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at Flutter Entertainment (London, England) in July 2022

      Interview

I applied through an external recruiter for a role in Flutter that is a new function for them. Unfortunately, the organisation seems to have used the interview process to understand what is actually needed for the role which sadly led to them wasting my time and misleading me. I am utterly shocked and appalled with this organisations' attitude and behaviour towards candidates. I went through a four stage interview which included a presentation, panel interview, psychometric test, c-suit interview in the range of about 2 months. It took them 2 weeks to come back to me after the last stage. The entire time they were signalling that I was a great candidate (which I am), a potential successor for the hiring manager, a really good fit for the role etc etc. I was also been told through the entire interview how important this role was and vital for Flutter to meet their aspirations. Only for found out that the role I applied for and went through this entire process - no longer was needed. The organisation reassessed their need for this 'vital' and 'important' role and decided it was no longer so vital or important any more. They were going to 'restructure' the role and look for other candidates as my profile did not fit their reassessed needs. Therefore, I, the candidate who spent hours preparing and flexing around their difficult time schedules was no longer the right candidate for this newly assessed role. Appalling, Unprofessional, Disrespectful. Shocking. I didn't even receive an apology for their appalling behaviour. Everything was done through an external recruiter who delivered the message in a nonchalant way. I have no words to describe my frustrating and disappointment. Companies really need to remember that candidates are potential future talent, customers or clients. Rejection is part of the interview process but changing the job description is something very different. It shows that this company really didn't think through the role - demonstrating lack of organisation from within. This behaviour is simply unacceptable. Do not waste people's precious time. Demonstrate empathy and when you do get it wrong - be transparent and apologise.
