I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Focal Point (Chicago, IL) in Dec 2022
Interview
First interview was with HR over the phone. Second interview was with the hiring manager, a lot of behavioral questions. Kept asking questions and interrupting mid sentence as I was trying to answer them. I then starting giving shorter answers because he wouldn't let me finish a thought to answer his questions properly. Did not get selected for the third round. The "engineering" role here seems a lot more design focused rather than technical.
1. Virtual introduction with recruiter
2. Virtual interview by two engineering managers. They checked to make sure you had the right experience and can communicate.
3. Seven separate in-person interviews over 5 hours. Met a variety of engineers, engineering managers, and project managers. They asked questions about your experience, your career goals, and technical questions to gauge your problem solving skills.
4. Final interview with engineering director. This was very casual. The director wanted to get a final sense of my experience, and communication style. I think their goal was to find the appropriate team to place you in.
