Overall the interview process was fairly straight forward. I had a total of 4 interviews over the course of about 2 months.
I was very interested in the position up until my final interview with the CEO, Taro. As part of their interview process I was asked to prepare a mock presentation for several members of team, including the CEO. While I think this is quite a big ask for someone who had already gone through several rounds of interviews I accepted this is part of their process and prepared a presentation. As with any meeting I have with a prospect, I encouraged team members listening in to ask questions through out my presentation. While I was answering a question someone asked, the CEO interrupted me and made an extremely rude, not to mention irrelevant and sexist comment about my presentation style. I was disgusted and embarrassed and I felt an immediate change in the tone of the meeting.
After the presentation I met with Taro for about 25 minutes. By that time I was so disgusted by his remark that I knew I wouldn’t want to work for him or his company. I was disappointed that he seemed more interested in putting me on the spot and tripping me up with odd behavioral questions than he was in getting to know me as a person and potential employee.
