In my interview process for this position, there was a phone screening and 3 interviews to follow. One of those, the final interview, in person. I wanted to share my experience because from the phone screening until I received the “no reply” template rejection from the organization, took four and a half months. This is a low level job for which I’m well qualified and I felt respected by the members of the team themselves but I feel very disrespected by this whole process. At every single step of the process, timelines were not made clear and I had to follow up multiple times a couple weeks after each interview. I was most upset to receive a “no reply” email thanking me for sharing my experiences. I feel like just one sentence providing feedback or personalizing it would have softened the rejection as I had moved around vacations and talked about this job for almost 5 months. It leaves a bad taste for the organization and makes me think they must be really unorganized. I don’t think I’ll ever apply there again even though many at my current food non profit do end up working there but they make my current org look so good right now.

Interview
I was really excited about this position and had history with the company. After 4 long interviews with multiple people on each, they ghosted me. It is completely reasonable for them to choose another candidate. It is completely reasonable to change the scope of work. It is reasonable to not proceed with the job. It is not reasonable for them to ghost a person after 4 interview rounds. Please, please, please, just let a person know you are going in a different direction.
