I applied through an employee referral. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Formation Data Systems in July 2014
Interview
Initial communication was quick after meeting the CEO. There were two interviews, one with the head engineer, and the other with another engineer. There were a number of questions related to my recent experience and points on my resume, followed up by a number of coding questions. Interviews were conducted over video call and coding questions were set up in a shared editing environment that supported some syntax highlighting (minimally useful). Over all, not a bad interview process, but a better environment for the coding questions would have made it much smoother.

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 5 days. I interviewed at Formation Data Systems (Fremont, CA)
Interview
I had two rounds of interviews: telephone screening and an onsite interview. The onsite interview was for three hours and fairly technical. Questions were challenging. Everyone I talked to seemed to be knowledgeable in respective fields. I got clear idea about the problem they are trying to solve from the discussions. Overall my impressions is its a good early stage startup working on a challenging problem. They extended an offer to me and I have accepted it.
