Interview
I have been working at Fortinet for 1ish years now,
I am posting here in interview section to warn people who may be considering joining fortinet specifically in Plano, Texas.
This company should be the last to join on your list, if you are looking for a long term career. Don't get me wrong, our firewalls are doing good in the market so far and you will learn a lot once you join but the managers such as Scott V. who open fake positions and waste people's time and money while they already have a short list of their new hires should be questioned and I think this is illegal and unethical.
They won't explicitly say it but they only want to hire citizens to work federal cases all the time and/or H1Bs (mostly Indians) to have them work like slaves (since their future can be at risk anytime). So if you are one of those folks, you have a big chance to get a job (assuming it’s not a fake position as mentioned above) Read other reviews for more info. We will be quitting by the end of this year or early next year.
We are leaving bad managers, not the company.
I applied online. The process took 3 months. I interviewed at Fortinet in Nov 2025
Interview
I spent more than 20+ hours on 5+ interviews, including a 5 hour take home test and going to their office for 3 consecutive interviews. Then I waited 1.5 months for a rejection without explanation. No respect for our time.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Specific questions about processes that should be written down.
Great interview experience! The focus was on networking fundamentals like LAN, OSPF, TCP/IP, and the OSI model. The questions were technical but fair, testing both theoretical knowledge and practical application. A great way to assess networking expertise.
I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Fortinet (Ottawa, ON) in Dec 2024
Interview
I had interview for the “Technical support Engineer” at Fortinet on Dec 6th 2024.
After first questions, "what is the 7 OSI layers and the sample protocol for each layer", the interviewer told me show him my keyboard, because he felt, I am looking too much bottom of the screen.
then he asked me to share my screen. and he said that I am using chatgpt for cheating. That chatgpt question was VRF leaking related to my task for my current job.
I have more that 15 years experience as a network engineer and consultant. I spent time to pass NSE4 certificate for this role requirement and planned to relocate to Ottawa. the interviewer stop interview easily. The interviewer didn't even turn his webcam.
