      Software Engineer Interview

      8 July 2022
      Anonymous interview candidate
      No offer

      Application

I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Fraym in Nov 2021

      Interview

I interviewed with Fraym in November 2021. The interview process involved a 1 hour phone screen, after which I was given a take home coding project. After finishing the coding project we had a technical debrief with a team from Vitamin Software. Finally, I had one last interview with one of their engineers where I was asked some technical questions on software development generally. The interview process was generally great all along up to the last step. The interviewers were friendly and good communicators. However, after putting all the work in the interview process for about 3 weeks, they did not communicate the outcome of the interview despite them promising to do so. I spent more than a month writing follow-up emails to no avail. I believe courtesy and decency require that employers communicate the result of a recruitment process to applicants who took their time to honor their invite. Successful or not, it gives interviewees closure. Even if the interview candidates are as many as twenty, a mail to the unsuccessful ones shouldn’t be too much to ask for. If it wasn’t a hassle to reach out to all of them when you invited them, it shouldn’t be to communicate the result. Ghosting says a lot about the company, their work ethic and their work culture. Ghosting is rude. Ghosting is unprofessional.
