I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at FunStation (Edinburgh, Scotland) in Dec 2024
Interview
5 Minute pre screen call followed by an easy and really friendly in person interview, the about a week later you would get a call stating all the information regarding hours & holidays you stated in the interview to confirm this is what you would like then I was offered the role.
I applied through a recruiter. The process took 5 days. I interviewed at FunStation (Northampton, England) in Dec 2024
Interview
The company has a small group of staff at head office with several marketing positions but one HR and one payroll position for a company hoping to expand and double their headcount in the next financial year.
The job title wasn’t clear as there was no JD and salary mentioned. Previous employee was a manager, are they hoping for similar with less pay? Having extensive recruitment experience, I observed the two Interviewers came with the CV, and a plain paper, no set standard of documents for interview questions etc. I offered to show my ID’s as they didn’t ask to see right to work.
Was told they may consider flexibility however upon going to the interview, was told they will not consider hybrid working/ remote and would prefer someone who is onsite with travel to other parts of the UK.
Interview was cut short and I wasn’t able to demonstrate my extensive skills and work ethic when I suggested my working hours due to family commitments. Was questioned if I would be sending my child to nursery or who would be looking after my child in my absence, didn’t seem impressed by my current arrangement, a parent choice should be respected.
Having worked in many industries, the difference in management styles between big companies and small companies are evidently clear. It is a family run company, although it didn’t seem like a family friendly company and unwilling to consider modern ways of working to retain the best out of their staff.
Best of luck!
