Recruiter called about a controller opportunity, thinking it would be a good fit with my aeronautics and previous controller experience. The recruiter said he'd gone to B-school with the CFO and they had a great relationship. Cool. So I go up there and spoke with the CFO for a couple of hours, and it went very well. Extremely positive experience.
Recruiter told me the feedback was "very good", and he would let me know next steps. A month or so goes by. Then I was asked to come in for a "peer interview" with a company financial analyst. This individual was extremely aggressive, and seemed like their goal was just to make me feel inferior. No real technical questions - it was mostly just this individual talking at me (not to me). This "peer" interview was pointless - nothing substantial was asked, and after spending over an hour each way to get there, it only lasted about 30 minutes. The recruiter kept dropping me messages about the job for the next couple of months, but he never heard back from anyone. I later saw that the job I had interviewed for had been filled. The most annoying part is that I turned away other opportunities during this time. I would have at least appreciated some sort of notice that they went in another direction. Ghosting a candidate that has invested hours into an interview process is never appropriate.
