      Accounting Specialist Interview

      30 Nov 2015

      Application

I applied online. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at GIC (New York, NY) in Nov 2015

      Interview

I was e-mailed by a HR coordinator just two weeks after I submitted my application with a set time the week after to meet with a higher ranking HR AVP and the hiring manager. No details, just show up. No problem. Interview day come, I arrive 20 minutes early and am escorted to one of the conference rooms. The HR AVP appears 20 minutes after our scheduled start time to essentially have me regurgitate what is on my resume and as I am speaking he takes notes as they all do. After about 10 minutes of mostly me talking he decides in the interest of time for me to speak to the hiring manager as soon as possible for the more intimate details of the position. He leaves and I am left to wait in the conference room for another 45 minutes for the hiring manager to show up. The interview with the hiring manager went well enough. It seems HR passed along the noted version of my resume. A lot of “tell me about a time when you…” type questions but overall it was a pleasant and lengthy conversation spanning approximately an hour. I did not however learn much about the company or what was expected of me in the end. It has been a month since that day. A week and a half ago, I followed up with my original HR contact inquiring about my status so I may move on. I was told the decision hadn’t been made.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

Tell me about a time when an unexpected problem arose and how you dealt with it. Tell me about a time when you sought to improve your company.
