I applied through a recruiter. I interviewed at Gambit Research in May 2018
Interview
Internal recruiter found me; a waste of time with codility test: 2 tasks, I completed the second. The first was 4 pages problem of binary trees. I found it too theoretical and not related with the role. I also think that they do not check your code, they just take the final result of codility test.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
binary trees. find the number of visible nodes of a binary tree T given as a string.
Thanks for feeding back on your experience, it's always useful to know how the process was from the candidate's side. Apologies that the need for the DevOps candidate to be experienced at coding wasn't made more strongly to you. As a lot of our infrastructure is built using custom tools, it's important that the DevOps team can support them.
Please rest assured that our technical team do look at all the Codility tests we receive. We really do appreciate the time and effort candidates put into doing them. It's often as much about the process shown on the results, as the percentage score.
We will make sure that all DevOps candidates are fully briefed on the reasons why development skills matter in this role though, and we wish you all the best with your job hunt.
I applied through a recruiter. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Gambit Research (London, England) in Mar 2018
Interview
Preliminary Call - with one of the key members of the team, some stats questions, not so difficult, and it's smooth
Online Test - personally I don't like this kind of test and waste of time, but I got through this.
On-site interviews - meet all the team members, they are nice, the only compliant is that the questions sometimes not clearly addressed. It leads to some confusion. But it might be well-planned.
I would suggest the company should talk directly to the candidate. My recruiter is unresponsive and do not even send me a feedback at the beginning.
Thanks for the feedback. We're sorry that the agent took a while to get back to you. We'll certainly chat to our recruitment agents and remind them of the importance of being more prompt in communicating with candidates.
