I applied online. I interviewed at Gameloft (Toronto, ON) in June 2017
Interview
I applied via LinkedIn for the Community Manager role, which I only noticed was posted 2 months earlier after I had applied. After such a long time, I wondered why the job had not been filled & taken down?
I received an e-mail from HR asking me to complete a 4-page assignment, with a 2-day deadline...prior to even speaking to the company on the phone.
Wanting the job badly, I completed the assignment against my better judgment. The assignment was very labour-intensive, and took me one night and one full day to complete.
After I submitted the assignment, I never heard back from the HR person if it was received. I tried to connect via e-mail and by phone, but no reply.
I finally made contact with the recruiter and was invited for a face-to-face with 3 team members. The interview was pleasant, but wait for the punch line...they were looking to hire within 6 months. That would mean had I applied when they initially posted the position, it would have taken 8 months until I was hired!
About 3 weeks after my interview, they reposted the job on LinkedIn that I had been interviewed for. Not sure what they are actively recruiting for a job that they won't be hiring for for another 6 months. A head's up for other candidates.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Did I have experience working with a certain one of their large clients?
I applied through an employee referral. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Gameloft in Jan 2025
Interview
Apply with caution. Gameloft has many brilliant teams, but all are at the discretion of their global head office, who call the shots even when jobs are advertised and may be withdrawn after several rounds of interviews.
After three successful interviews and many wonderful conversations (both with the local team I had applied for and one of their managers in Paris), I was left stranded for several weeks with no reply. Managed to reach out to a hiring manager, who assured me that the next contact I would receive would be regarding the job offer, as the team were quite impressed with my skills.
After a month since the initial interview, I received an email notifying me that the global head office had chosen to withdraw the role entirely and it was no longer available. As you could imagine, this was incredibly frustrating, as I had dedicated a large amount of my own time, efforts, and mental capacity over a month to apply for this role. Sadly, this hiring experience was quite unprofessional and left me feeling as if I was treated as an expendable candidate rather than a human being.
This is no disrespect to the local Gameloft teams, as I greatly admire the studio I applied for. However, this is representative of the global management and how this might reflect poorly upon local studios.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
What prior experience do you have that would make you suitable for this role?
My interview process consisted of three stages: a conversation with HR, completing a test task, and an interview with some team members whom I (as I understood) would be working with. The test task was quite extensive – they were definitely looking for someone with solid knowledge and considerable work experience. I went through all three stages, and they took a very long time to provide a final response – nearly two weeks of waiting. Unfortunately, I did not receive an offer.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
The questions were mainly about my previous experience.
The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Gameloft (Ho Chi Minh City) in July 2024
Interview
The interview process didn't take very long, but the interview itself lasted for around 1 hour, with also many technical questions. I had a first interview and a test to complete.
My test wasn't enough to get the position.
I didn't get a reason for it tho, and I would have liked to know why the test failed.
