I applied and was contacted within hours to go to the next step: a behavioral assessment. No problem - shows me they take care in screening their applicants. Within hours of completing the assessment, I was invited to a phone conversation. I was given an option of later that same day (seemed urgent) or later in the week. I chose later. Had a great conversation with the recruiter and asked when I would hear from her about next steps. I assumed, given the speedy response to my application that there was interest in me. She said I would hear from her in the next week. I sent her a note, thanking her for her time and reiterating my interest in the position. I’ve never heard from her in the weeks/month since our conversation.
Do better. If you aren’t interested in advancing an applicant after you’ve had personal contact with them, you owe them a courtesy email letting them know where they stand. Ghosting someone is not a good look.
