      Associate Product Manager Interview

      29 July 2024
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Pune
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied through an employee referral. The process took 3 months. I interviewed at GetInsured (Pune)

      Interview

The budget for the position is way too low than the Pune market standards, specially when this position requires some technical knowledge of APIs and databases. The interview process is highly inefficient and lacks transparency, resulting in indefinite waiting periods. They have a single HR person handling recruitment, new employee onboarding, the entire employee lifecycle, event planning, and more, which explains why the interview process gets delayed by weeks. Follow-ups are either not responded to or are too vague to understand the status and next steps. The HR didn't even know who the hiring manager was or what the next steps would be if the interview was cleared. The interviewer's questions for an APM position which doesn't require development experience, such as how I keep myself technically updated, seemed misplaced since this position is not for a developer. When I asked how this position would benefit the interviewer and their team, they didn't have a clear response, indicating that this role might not be crucial and could be eliminated in the future. The entire 2.5-month process suggests that this position is not a priority for the company. Moreover, one of the interviews didn't feel necessary to turn on the video while interviewing which made me uncomfortable during the discussion. They really need an efficient and transparent process in place so they can gain the candidate's trust even if the candidate is not selected for further process. After 2.5 months of back-and-forth communications, including several calls, messages, emails, a lengthy write-up to respond to HR's queries, and two interviews, I received a generic rejection reason. Other companies typically provide a detailed explanation. When I asked for specific feedback, HR's response was that they didn't know the reason but would try to find out. This raises concerns about whether they have a debriefing process after interviews.
