I applied online. I interviewed at Goodshuffle (Washington, DC) in June 2025
Interview
I only had the initial screening call, but it wasn’t a great experience. The interviewer was a Success leader, and the interview went well enough that they mentioned during the interview that they’d be sending over a take-home assessment and then outlined next steps for the interview process. The take-home assessment was never sent, and the next message I got was a generic one from that same leader I interviewed with saying they’re not moving forward in the process after all. I wrote back saying thanks anyways and, just out of curiosity, what changed from when she said they were going to send a take-home assessment and now getting this message/decision. I never received a reply.
TL;DR I was directly told that I was moving forward in an hiring process and then the leader who interviewed me ‘ghosted’ me.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
What stood out about the role to you? Why do you want to work here? What do you do in your current CSM role? What’s the size of your current BoB? Etc.
The interview process felt unconventional and raised some concerns. For example, the question about recent books read seemed to heavily influence the decision-making process, which may not be fair or relevant. It is important to consider that candidates may face personal challenges, such as being a single parent, that could limit their time for reading. I would recommend reconsidering the inclusion of such a question in the interview process. Additionally, the interviewer appeared disengaged throughout the conversation, which contributed to a less-than-positive experience. There were also several red flags during the process, particularly the requirement for five rounds of interviews for a position that offers a below-average salary, which seems disproportionate.
I applied online. The process took 8 weeks. I interviewed at Goodshuffle in Nov 2024
Interview
TLDR: Crazy interview process. Honestly a red flag when a company needs 7 rounds to determine if you’re a fit.
I had the same conversation 6 times, made it through each round, only for the CEO (in the final round) to look at my resume and say “this isn’t a fit for what I’m looking for”. Honestly a waste of my time and their time!
Director and manager clearly cow-tow to CEO, even after he self-admittedly “has no idea what a CSM does”, since his background is in development.
Genuinely wish I listened to these reviews before investing so much of my time and energy into this process.
At more than one point it felt like the CEO was simply trying to get intel on how other companies run their CS department which was insulting at best.
