I applied through a recruiter. I interviewed at Gracenote
Interview
Time taking. First technical was good. In second technical unrelated questions were asked about different languages and asked to compare both with different perspective. Second round was way too deviating
First I had a phone screen with an HR. The questions were pretty basic, focusing on behavioral questions and how much I know about the company. I may have went a bit far laying thick on compliments, but he pushed me to the next step.
About two weeks later, I had a virtual 1:1 with the manager of the team. He was personable, professional with interview questions mostly behavioral, which made me question if he had any technical background. Ran down my resume and gave elaborative answers to each bullet point from my previous work experiences. He handed out a take home assignment on creating a full stack app that was due before the onsite interview.
About a week after, I was invited to the company site (way before covid), and had my code reviewed by the team members, and was given a medium level coding interview that a greedy algorithm could solve in O(n). Team members were very interactive with me on how to approach the problem and what kind of algorithm I would use. I was able to solve the problem relatively quickly.
After a week, I got the offer from the HR.
