I was contacted via LinkedIn for a Backend Developer position and was informed there would be an English aptitude test. I prepared accordingly, expecting a language-based assessment. However, when the interview began, there was a delay of about 10 minutes before the session resumed, and the provided link turned out to be for an IQ test, not an English test.
There was also a request during the interview to have pen and paper ready, which had not been communicated in advance. Since I was under the impression this was a language test, I hadn’t prepared any writing materials.
Before the assessment started, it was stated that the role required working 12 hours a day for $600/month, which is far below standard pay for the workload described.
Feedback:
Lack of transparency about the test content and required materials.
Unclear and inconsistent communication during the process.
Compensation offered appeared unrealistic for the expected hours.
Recommendation:
Would not recommend unless you are comfortable with minimal communication, unexpected changes, and extremely low pay.
