How would you describe your working style with a team of editors?
I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Green America (Washington, DC) in June 2014
Interview
I had two in-person interviews and a phoner. For the 2nd in person interview, they cancelled the 1st confirmed time and rescheduled. I had already cancelled a freelance gig, so I lost out on that money... 1st Red Flag. I was also asked to present a content plan. I had a week to prepare. I presented my PPT in front of the organization's leadership (about 8 people). They asked detailed and pointed questions about digital strategy. It felt like a consulting job rather than an interview. One woman bluntly asked regarding their magazine, "How do we dumb it down for the public?" After I finished presenting, another woman rudely said, "We know all of that. We just don't have time to do it." I hours in the middle of the night putting together my presentation. I left my baby with a sitter just to go on these interviews. I let them pick my brain and got no negative feedback. At the very end they told me I didn't have enough management experience. That was something that I was upfront about from the beginning, but they still took my free advice and put me through a tortuous interview process.
