After submitting an application a month prior I received an email from one of the recruiters to schedule a phone interview. During the interview the recruiter seemed very distracted; I could hear constant typing in the background while I was answering questions.
I was asked a few standard interview questions like what I knew about GuideSpark as a company and why I was interested in the role. The recruiter then proceeded to ask me if I lived in Portland where the position I was interviewing for was located. I said I was in Vancouver, WA and would have no trouble commuting across the river. Apparently this was not the answer the recruiter was looking for because they proceeded to argue with me for a good 5 minutes(!) about whether or not living in Vancouver makes me a 'local' candidate. I'm sorry GuideSpark, I don't have time to teach Portland area geography to your California recruiting team.
I have no idea what this recruiter was thinking and I am astonished by their lack of professionalism. I was invited to submit an assessment but with a bad taste in my mouth after dealing with their recruiter I will not be pursuing employment with this company.
