Senior Consultant, Organizational Strategy & Operations Interview

      22 May 2020
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Atlanta, GA
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at Guidehouse (Atlanta, GA) in May 2020

      Interview

The phone screen with the firm was incredibly unprofessional and reflected poorly on the company. As of May 2020, this person has been with Guidehouse for over 6 years and has a made a career in the recruiting industry in the Washington, DC area. Not only was she late in calling me, her dog kept barking in the background interrupting the discussion repeatedly. It was very clear this person was not familiar with the contents of my resume, my background, or the cover letter I prepared for this opportunity. She was unprepared, disheveled, and easily distracted by her environment. She struggled to capture my answers and manage the conversation. I asked if we needed to reschedule the phone screen as it seemed like an inconvenient time for her, yet she wanted to continue. The call continued to deteriorate, I let her know this is not working and I ended the call. I am a mid-career professional with over a decade of management consulting experience and I assure you no one would have the patience for this type of behavior. I graduated with an MBA from a top business school, have served at top consulting firms, and delivered for some of the world’s most prestigious companies. In all my years spent serving clients, I can not ever imagine a time where this would be appropriate behavior in front of a client. This is simply not the way you engage and attract top talent to an organization. Due to the lack of professionalism and overall disrespect, I rescinded my application from consideration. I then received a series of text messages and more than five phone calls from this person. I find this behavior disturbing to say the least.
