Gusto Android Platform Engineer interview questions

I applied online via Gusto's website. I had a recruiter screen, a take home exercise and 5 onsite interviews. Take home exercise: build an Android app that shows a rotating lunch menu from a list of strings. I was given 3-5 business days to complete this. It took about 1 month to hear back from the recruiter after I submitted my take home exercise. I had 5 virtual onsite interviews: 1. Review and extension of the take home exercise. I was asked to create an infinitely scrolling menu, scrolling both up and down. 2. System design: design a messaging app like WhatsApp or the Messages app. 3. Hiring manager interview. 4. Values and motivations interview. 5. DSA interview: time based key value store on leetcode. I got a weird email from the recruiter the Monday after my interview, asking about other companies I was interviewing with, telling me he got positive feedback from my interviews and that he wanted the best for me (what does that even mean?). I got a generic rejection email after a week.
