      Customer Care Representative Interview

      24 Feb 2018
      Anonymous employee
      Denver, CO
      Accepted offer
      Positive experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

The process took 2 days. I interviewed at Gusto (Denver, CO) in Feb 2018

      Interview

A “sneak peak” assessment is given prior to the interview to see how you handle customer questions. They give you a short tour of the facility then place you in a conference room. 3 people will come through for 1:1 interviews. One person asks you more logistical questions (tell me about a time...”) based on experience and goes over your sneak peak assessment, another will see if your values align with Gusto’s through a more relaxed and conversational setting, and the last person asks you about your long term career plans and explains the job. They get back to you in 24 hours with an offer/no offer.

      No offer
      Negative experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Gusto (Chicago, IL) in Jan 2022

      Interview

Over 4 hours of interviewing- none of the questions were really payroll related. There were a couple of redundant ones but I thought there would be technical questions past what was asked. They were all scenario questions and drawn out to scenario based questions which is expected in interviews but I think it wasn’t the greatest set up. The team lead that interviewed me didn’t even have a background in payroll and had been with the company for 4 months. My interviews we’re energetic and went very well—when I asked if they had any concerns about my skill set against the expectations of the role they said they had none at all. I thought I absolutely would be offered the position given how quickly the interviews were scheduled and their open verbal eagerness to move me forward. I asked my own set of hypothetical questions and it was easy to feel their mutual engagement. They used phrases that came off as future-inclusive “you’ll most likely start out as a higher tiered agent based on skills you’ve shared” or “you and your leadership will meet weekly to go over your goals and stats” or “you’ll have at least 30-60 minutes of admin time to work on your cases”. After the interviews were concluded I even sent an email thanking them for their time. The great reply I got? A very bland, vague rejection email saying I didn’t have the right skill set for the role I applied for. What a whiplash experience for a company to provide. Take up over 5 hours out of your week, remain engaging and energetic all for it to end in an email saying you do t have the skills they’re looking for with a link to apply for one of their other positions.

Went through the ringer with this company. The final interview I sat with multiple team members in multiple departments. Felt like I was qualified for the position, ended up not receiving an offer.

      Interview

The interview process was standard, and somewhat long, but overall pleasant. The company does a good job of thoroughly reviewing applicants with standard questions. There are multiple rounds with multiple team members.
