      Interactive Designer Interview

      4 July 2015
      Anonymous employee
      San Francisco, CA
      Accepted offer
      Positive experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Gusto (San Francisco, CA)

      Interview

The interview process went very quickly. I applied at the beginning of the week and received a response to my web application within the end of the week where a phone screen was set up. The phone screen was relatively short and easy, with general questions about why I was looking to leave my current job and what I was looking for in my new role. A few days later I heard back to schedule an on-site interview for the next week. I met with 5 members of the team individually. These meetings included more in depth portfolio review and white boarding exercises. It also included a pair programming exercise which was a bit unusual for a design interview but a great way to validate out coding ability. I was then invited back to the office the next week where we discussed role specifics and was asked for my references which they spoke to. A few more days later I was made an offer. Overall, it was a very positive experience.
