I applied online. The process took 4 months. I interviewed at HBO (New York, NY) in May 2016
Interview
The process took four months, though I've still never been officially rejected (two months later). Went into the office three separate times for in person interviews, as well as two phone interviews - spoke with 8 people in total. For the most part the employees I met with seemed nice and intelligent, but also stressed out and frustrated. The exception was the SVP, who seemed distracted, uninterested, and made me feel like I was wasting her time. My contact in HR was personable and very responsive. For 3 weeks straight he told me the hiring leader was still making a decision. I'm sure there was more to it than that, because anyone who is THAT indecisive should not be in management. When I finally called to say I had received another offer, he assured me he'd get back to me within a day or two. Still waiting to hear back.... (just kidding).
Hope they found what they were looking for, but think I dodged a bullet.

I applied online. The process took 3 months. I interviewed at HBO in Sept 2012
Interview
The overall process was very professional and clear. There was constant communication from the HR team and Hiring Manager to ensure that I as I candidate knew my standing every step of the way. There was also a great effort to give me the complete picture of the environment, culture, and expected job responsibilities. They not only focused on whether I was the right fit for them, but they provided me enough information to make an informed decision about whether they were the right fit for me and my long-term career goals.
