      Project Coordinator Interview

      23 Sept 2016
      Anonymous employee
      Irvine, CA
      Accepted offer
      Negative experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at HDR (Irvine, CA) in June 2016

      Interview

I first did a phone interview with the manager of the department. I was called in for an interview with a panel of 4 people. The interview was really a conversation, which I liked instead of the normal “please tell us about your experience.” I thought I had really connected with the team. They said they wanted to move forward with me, I was so excited, thinking I had a job.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

I thought I was interviewing for a project coordinator position and it turned into an admin position that included making coffee. The job description was more technical than an admin position and I would have never have applied for the job if it was an admin position. When they said they wanted to move forward with meant they would be doing a background check, but instead they wanted me to take a test including Excel, Word, Business Writing, and Outlook. I have been using these products since the early 90's

      Interview

Easy process, 3 rounds of interview. First HR screening, then interview with supervisor, lastly HR interview to go over the job once more. All done online since I wasn't local. No relocation benefits. Asked about my experience, skills, work ethic, etc.

      Interview

I had a really positive experience throughout HDR’s interview process. It moved quickly and was well-organized, which I appreciated. Everyone I spoke with was kind, thoughtful, and genuinely accommodating. Rather than trying to poke holes or find reasons not to hire me, I felt like the team was truly rooting for me and focused on getting to know me and how I could contribute to the role. It made the whole process feel collaborative and respectful — one of the best interview experiences I've had.

      Interview

Not great-asked me to speak negatively about current company 0/10. I was also not comfortable with the team interviewing me. I felt spoken over AND you have to pay for parking
