I had a first interview with the recruiter, and it was one of the worst experiences I’ve ever had. It was scheduled to last 30 minutes, but when the recruiter joined the call there was no introduction at all—just a question asking if I knew the company.
There was no real explanation of the position apart from a few generic sentences that sounded memorized. I wasn’t asked any specific questions to present myself, there was no structure at all, and of course no time for my questions. Overall, there was no clarity about the role either.
The interview lasted less than 10 minutes. It was therefore no surprise that the next day I received an automated email saying they had decided to move forward with other candidates.
I can acknowledge that I might not have been the perfect fit for the position, but there are far more professional ways to assess a candidate and communicate that during an interview, while also respecting the time a senior candidate spends preparing for it. I would suggest simply using a form in the recruitment process to filter out candidates beforehand. This would also save money otherwise spent on questionable recruitment practices.
